2003 NPC Tampa Bay Classic

Men’s open lightheavyweight winner, Rodney Tellis of Largo; women’s
open lightweight winner, Kathleen Schloss of New Port Richey; and
women’s figure short class winner, Jody Schiel of Lakeland; were
prestigiously victorious in staking claim to their overall titles at
the NPC Tampa Bay Classic Bodybuilding and Figure Championships, a
level III contest, which was held June 7th at the USF Special Events
Center, under the promotion of John Schleicher’s Superior Sports
Productions.

2003 20th Annual NPC Southern Classic

The first national qualifier for 2003 for Mississippi was the 20th
annual NPC Southern Classic that was held on June 7 at the Thalia Mara
Hall in Jackson under the promotion of state and zone chairman Don
Hollis and his wife Betty. ..... .....
Thirty-four-year-old Al Graham of North Little Rock, AR faced eight
tough competitors in the heavyweight class to take the win by a
unanimous decision. ..... ..... Al then moved into the final comparisons and pose down and once again took all first place votes for the overall win. ..... .....
Brenda Smith, 39, of Bossier City, LA took a one-point (7 - 8) decision
to capture the lightweight class win and then moved into the finals to
take the overall with a majority decision. ..... .....
Seventeen-year-old Victoria Felton of Madison, MS was making her first
contest appearance and was unopposed in the Fitness Division. ..... ..... The Figure Division was divided into three height classes with a total of 18 competitors. ..... .....
Selma Reneman, 37, of Mobile, AL was the winner of both rounds of
competition to take the medium height class win over 7 other
competitors. ..... ..... Selma moved into the final comparisons and was the unanimous choice of the judging panel for the overall win.

Bodybuilding and Mak Attack Fitness and Figure Championships were held
at the Wallace Hall Auditorium in Gadsden, AL on June 21 under the
promotion of Stace Beechum and his Gold’s Gym of Rainbow City. ..... .....
Kevin Stanley, 39, of Gadsden, AL took the lightheavyweight class and
moved into the final comparisons and posedown to receive the majority
of first place votes from the judges for the overall win. ..... .....
Rachel Camp, 35, of Boaz, AL took the heavyweight class by a unanimous
decision and took the overall by a unanimous decision of the judges. ..... .....
The Fitness Division had three entrants and veteran competitor Kristi
Pugh, 25, of Tuscaloosa, AL took first place in all three rounds of
competition for the win. ..... .....
The Figure Division was divided into two height classes with a total of
eight competitors - - one in the short class and seven in the tall. ..... .....
Michelle Clower, 22, of Athens, GA was tied with Tabitha Lester of
LIndals, GA for first place after both rounds of competition. The highs
and lows were added back into the scoring and Michelle Clower was
declared the winner of the class. ..... ..... Michelle moved into the final comparisons and took the overall title by a unanimous decision.

The 2003 NPC Mid-Florida Bodybuilding and Figure Championships were
held on June 14 at the Dr. Phillips Auditorium in Orlando under the
promotion of Central Florida vice-chairman Deke Warner. ..... .....
Al Auguste, 26, of Orlando edged out a field of five other athletes for
the middleweight class win and moved into the finals to take the
overall title. ..... .....
Suki Patterson, 55, of Melbourne, was unopposed in the lightweight
class and after the final comparisons and pose down was the unanimous
pick of the judges for the overall win. ..... ..... The Figure Division was divided into two height classes with a total of 18 athletes competing for the overall. ..... .....
Thirty-year-old Kimberly Atwood of Orlando faced tough competition from
12 athletes in the tall class and was tied for first with Christine
Nestor, 30, of Melbourne with 8 points each after round one (two-piece
swimsuit) and after the completion of round two (one-piece swimsuit)
pulled ahead by 5 points to take the second round and the class win. ..... ..... Kimberly moved into the final comparisons and received all first place votes from the judging panel for the overall win.

2003 NPC Space Coast Championships

The 2003 NPC Space Coast Bodybuilding and Figure Championships were
held on May 31 at the Imperial Hotel Conference Center in Melbourne
under the promotional efforts of Neil and Melissa Butler and their
Hawk’s Gym. ..... .....
For the past several years the NPC Space Coast was promoted by Sonny
Molinelli of Cape Canaveral. Sonny passed away last year after a very
long battle with cancer. ..... .....
Twenty-seven-year-old Craig Soubliere of Vero Beach took the
lightheavyweight class win by a unanimous decision and moved into the
finals to take the overall title by a majority of first place votes
from the judging panel. ..... .....
Veteran competitor Melissa Palmer, 32, of Vero Beach took the majority
of first place votes for the heavyweight class win and moved into the
final comparisons and posedown to take the overall title. ..... ..... ..... ..... The Figure Division was divided into two height classes with a total of 13 competitors. ..... .....
Sarah Cornett, 224, of Satellite Beach took the majority of first place
votes in both rounds of competition to take the short class win. ..... ..... Sarah moved into the final comparisons and took the majority of the first place votes once again for the overall title.

The 2003 NPC Greater Knox Bodybuilding and Figure Classic was held on
June 28 at the Knox Bearden High School auditorium under the promotion
of Clay Spires. ..... .....
Veteran competitor Aaron Faire, 32, of Tampa, FL took the
lightheavyweight class by a unanimous decision and moved into the final
comparisons to take the overall title. ..... .....
Thirty-eight-year-old Barbara Steele of Nashville, TN captured the
middleweight class with all first place votes from the judges and after
the final comparisons and pose down was the overall champion. ..... .....
The Figure Division was divided into two height classes and
twenty-eight-year-old Meridith Kilpatrick of Knoxville faced tough
competition of nine other entrants in the tall class and emerged as the
choice of the judges for the class win. ..... ..... Meridith moved into the finals and was declared the overall winner.
