..... The 2002 Vince Taylor Nashville Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships were held at the Centennial High School Auditorium on June 22 in Nashville under the promotion of IFBB pro Vince Taylor.

..... Twenty-five-year-old Jason Zehel of Lewisburg, TN dominated the heavyweight class and moved into the final comparisons and posedown to be the choice of the judges for the overall title.

..... Kim Kilper, 21, of St. Louis, MO was the pick of the judges for the heavyweight class win and after the final comparisons was the overall winner.

..... The Fitness Division was divided into two height classes. Amy Sever of Lubock, TX was unopposed in the short class and after the final comparisons was the overall winner.

..... The Figure Division was divided into two height classes and Amy Sever of Lubock, TX was the pick of the judges for the short class win.

..... Amy moved into the final comparisons and took the Figure overall.

2002 NPC Florida State
..... South Florida vice-chairman for Palm Beach County, John Organ, hosted the 2002 NPC Florida State Championships on September 21 at the Harriet Himmel Gilman Theater at City Place in Palm Beach that attracted a total of 65 athletes competing for state honors.

..... Thirty-seven-year-old Byron English of Lakeland was making his first contest appearance in open competition since his 1992 Southeastern USA win by taking the superheavyweight class title by a unanimous decision.

..... Byron moved into the finals and after the comparisons of the class winners and posedown received all first place votes from the judges for the overall title.
.....
..... Diane Austin, 46, of Lake Worth faced competition in the middleweight class from 3 other athletes and emerged with all first place votes for the class win.

..... Diana moved into the final comparisons and received the majority of first place votes for the overall title.
.....
..... The Fitness Division had two classes with no entrants in the short class.

..... Camille Arciere, 29, of Naples continued her win streak by taking the tall class and the overall by scoring a unanimous decision in all three rounds of competition.

..... The Figure Division was divided into two height classes and thirty-one-year-old Khristy Poteat of Plantation faced stiff competition from 9 other competitors in the tall class and took a 2-point (18 - 20) decision over second placed Colette Roberts, 37, of Ft. Lauderdale for the class win.

..... Khristy moved into the final comparisons and was the choice of the judges for the overall win.

..... The 2002 NPC Mountaineer Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships, a national qualifier, under the promotion of Roger Morrison was held on September 21 at the Appalachian State University Farthing Auditorium in Boone, NC with a total of 73 athletes competing.

..... Twenty-eight-year-old Joe Patterson of Salisbury, NC repeated his superheavyweight win from the 2001 NPC Mountaineer and this time around took the majority of first place votes from the judges for the overall title.

..... Julie von Freymann, 36, of Greer, SC was the choice of the judges for the lightweight class win and after the final comparisons and posedown was declared the overall winner.

..... The Fitness Division was divided into the short and tall class.

..... Twenty-nine-year-old Amy Huber of Durham, NC was unopposed in the tall class and moved into the finals and was the choice of the judging panel for the overall win.

..... The Figure Division was divided into two height classes and Amanda Lockhart of Raleigh, NC faced competition from 10 other competitors in the tall class and emerged with the class win.

..... Amanda was declared the overall winner after the final comparisons between the two class winners.

2002 NPC Excalibur
..... The 2002 NPC Excalibur was held on August 3 at the Sotille Theatre in Charleston under the promotion of South Carolina vice chairman Tres Bennett.

..... Marcus Hudson, 37, of Greenville, SC scored a unanimous victory in the superheavyweight class and moved into the finals and was the choice of the judges for the overall win.

..... Thirty-eight-year-old Nyala Edwards of Wadmalan Island, SC took an unanimous decision for the middleweight class win.
.....
..... There were no entrants in the women’s lightweight and heavyweight classes so Nyala was also declared the open overall champion.
.....
..... Jeane Garrett was unopposed in the Fitness Division.
.....
..... The Figure Division had four entrants and Kim Shackleford, 32, of Raleigh, NC took all first place votes in rounds one and two to take the title.
