The 2001 NPC North Carolina State Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure
Championships were held on May 5 in Greensboro with a total of 77 competitors.

Thomas Rieke, 29, of Winston-Salem was the unanimous choice of the judges
among a field of 10 competitors for the heavyweight class title and after the
final comparisons and posedown was the choice for the overall title.

Melanie Thompson, 28, of Charlotte, took the lightweight class in the
women's open and moved onto the finals and was the choice of the judges for
the overall title.

North Carolina NPC chairman Mike Valentino and his brother Pat were the
promoters of this event at the Greensboro auditorium.

Allison Daughtry, 25, of Charlotte, won all three rounds of the fitness
competition in the short class and in the final comparison with the tall
class winner, Debra Dunn, was the choice of the judges for the overall title.
.....
Daughtry is 5'1" tall and works in sales for Europa Sports Products.
The inaugural Figure Championships saw a total of eleven competitors
competing for the title.

Kathy McMillan, 30, of Asheboro, scored 8 points in round one (two-piece
swimsuit) and 10 points in round two (one-piece swimsuit) for a total of 18
points to take the title.

2001 NPC Eastern Seaboard

The 2001 NPC Eastern Seaboard, a national qualifier, was held on May 12
at the World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA.

Tres Bennett, 36, of Charleston, SC was the choice of the judges for the
lightheavyweight class and after the final comparisons and posedown was the
choice for the overall title.
.....
Twenty-seven-year-old Mimi Jabalee of Roswell, GA took the heavyweight
class unanimously and after the final comparisons and posedown was the
unanimous choice of the judges for the overall.
.....
The Fitness Division was divided into the short and tall class and Susan
Claxton, 24, of Byron, GA emerged as the tall class winner and after the
final comparisons was the overall Fitness Champion.

The Figure Division was divided into a short and tall class and Simona
Brown, 30, of Roswell, GA, in her very first contest, was unopposed in the
tall class and after the final comparisons was the overall pick of the judges
for the title.

Twenty-nine-year-old Prince Bryant of St. Mary's GA was the unanimous
choice of the judges for the lightheavyweight class and the overall title in
the 2001 NPC Low Country.

Ann Hubbard, 34, of Beauford, SC, took the lightweight class unanimously
and was the judges choice for the overall title.

The 2001 NPC Low Country was held on May 19 at Parris Island, SC and was
promoted by Bill Brown and Russ Hosmer of the Ultimate Health and Fitness
Club.

The 2001 NPC Space Coast is back - and how! A total of 70 competitors
competed in this tested event.

Chad Inovejas, 29, of Clearwater, in his very first contest, eased out a
7 - 8 decision over second placed Richard Daggs for the middleweight title.
After the final comparisons and posedown Inovejas was chosen by the judges
for the overall title.

Suzanne Davis, 33, of Longwood, was the unanimous choice of the judges
for the middleweight class win and after the final comparisons and posedown
was the choice for the overall title.

The 2001 NPC Spacecoast was held on May 19 at the Merritt High School
auditorium in Merritt Island and was promoted by Sonny Molinelli and Pat
King. The proceeds from this event were donated to the March of Dimes.
