Thirty-three-year-old John Dabbs of Eden, NC dominated the heavyweight
division by taking the class unanimously and moved into the final
comparisons and posedown to take the overall win. ..... .....
Janine Sams, 25, of Cary, NC was making her first contest appearance
and took the lightweight class unanimously. Janine moved into the
finals and was the choice of the judges for the overall title. ..... .....
The Fitness Division saw Amy Levesque, 34, of Wake Forest, making her
first contest appearance, take the title - - she was unopposed. ..... ..... Amy is 5’2” tall and is the Fitness Director at the Spa and Health Clubs of Raleigh. ..... .....
The Figure Division had five entrants and Gina Baldwin, 32, of
Wilmington won both rounds of competition to take the overall title.

under the promotion of the NPC Georgia State Chairman Ty Felder at the

Forty-three-year old George Turmon of Duluth, GA took the
superheavyweight class with a unanimous decision and moved into the
finals to take the overall title. ..... .....
Sonya McFarland, 35, of Chattanooga, TN, appearing in only her second
contest, captured the heavyweight class win and after the final
comparisons and posedown was the choice of the judges for the overall
title. ..... .....
The Figure Division had four entrants and twenty-six-year-old Adrian
Chastain of Norcross was the pick of the judges for the overall win.

Phil Farmer, 32, of Raleigh, was making his second contest appearance,
took the heavyweight class by a unanimous decision and went into the
finals to take the overall unanimously as well. ..... .....
Thirty-year-old Alison McCarthy of Randleman was the pick of the judges
for the heavyweight class win and moved into the finals to take the
overall title by a majority decision of the judges. ..... ..... The Fitness Division was divided into two height classes, short - under 5’3” and tall - over 5’3”. ..... .....
Wendy Wolbert, 34, of Smithfield was unopposed in the short class and
went into the finals to take the majority decision of the judges for

Tad McLarty, 39, of Tuscaloosa, AL took the middleweight class and
moved into the finals to take the majority of the judges votes for the
overall title. ..... .....
Nancy Eades of El Dorado, AR took the lightweight class title and after
the final comparisons and posedown between the class winners was the
choice of the judges for the overall title. ..... .....
The Fitness Division was divided into two height classes and
twenty-nine-year-old Kimberly Becker of Bono, AR, in her first contest,
took the tall class and after the final comparisons was the choice of
the judges for the overall title.

The 5th Annual NPC Space Coast Bodybuilding and Figure Championships, a
drug tested event and qualifier for the Team Universe, was held on May
18 at the Merritt Island High School Auditorium under the promotion of
Sonny Molinelli and Uniquest. ..... ..... The first drug tested event for 2002 in Florida drew a total of 63 athletes. ..... .....
Chris Challenger, 29, of Altamonte Springs, faced the challenge of 5
other top competitors in the heavyweight class and took a unanimous
decision to take the class title and moved into the finals to take a
one point (8 - 9) decision over the lightheavyweight class winner,
Randy Sims, to take the overall title. ..... .....
Thirty-two-year-old Kelly Washburn of Cape Canaveral was competing for
the first time and also took a unanimous decision in the heavyweight
class and after the final comparisons and posedown between the class
winners was the unanimous choice of the judges for the overall title. ..... .....
The Figure Division was divided into three height classes, short (5’2”
and under), medium (5’2” to 5’4”), and tall (over 5’4”), and Kelly
Newton, 23, of Orlando, made her contest debut by dominating rounds one
(two-piece swimsuit) and round two (one-piece swimsuit) with unanimous
decisions to take the class win. ..... ..... Kelly moved into the final comparisons to once again take a unanimous decision to win the overall title.
