2002 NPC Atlanta Championships
.....
The 2002 NPC Atlanta Bodybuilding Championships were held on April 27
at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta under the promotion of
Ken "Doc" Neely and his Doc's Sports.
.....Shane Goodman, 28, of
Kennesaw, GA made his contest debut by taking the middleweight class by
a majority decision and moved in the finals to take the overall title.
.....Monika Burke, 36, of Marietta,
GA was also making her first contest appearance and took the
middleweight class by a unanimous decision and after the final
comparisons and posedown of the class winners was the pick of the
judges for the overall title.

2002 NPC East Tennessee Volunteer
.....
The first show of the 2002 season for Tennessee, the 2002 NPC East
Tennessee Volunteer Bodybuilding Championships, were held on March 30
in Kingsport under the promotion of Steve Kyker.
.....Clay Spires, 37, of Knoxville,
took a one point decision, 5 to 6, over second placed Jeff Cassidy to
take the heavyweight class win and moved into the finals and was the
pick of the judges for the overall title.
.....Rebecca Roberts was unopposed in the Women's Division and took the heavyweight class and the overall title.

2002 NPC Southern USA
.....
This year's 2002 NPC Southern USA Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure
Championships, a national qualifier, took place on April 10 in the
Marina Civic Center in Panama City and was promoted by Florida West
District Chairman Pat Sporer and his Healthworld Gym along with Chuck
Bond of Allstate and Legends of Tallahassee.
.....A record number of competitors
- 84 - came from all over Florida plus a large contingency from
Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina. The guest poser was
Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman who helped swell the crowd to near capacity
for the evening show.
.....
Promoter Pat Sporer, a bit tired and grinning from ear-to-ear at the end of the show remarked, "It was our best show to date."
..... Mike Degen, 27, of Boca Raton,
was making a come-back after a multi-year absence and took the
superheavyweight class by a unanimous decision.
..... The final comparison and
posedown between the class winners had the superheavyweight winner Mike
Degen scoring another unanimous decision to take the overall title.
.....
The Women's Division featured some excellent competition.
..... Ellen Woodley of Orlando, the
2001 NPC Central Florida District Champion, weighed in at 114 pounds
and captured the lightweight class win by scoring a unanimous decision.
..... The final comparisons and
posedown between the class winners resulted in lightweight class winner
Ellen Woodley taking the majority of the judges votes for the overall
win.
.....
The Women's Figure Division was divided into two height classes, short and tall.
.....
Sarah Palmer, 26, of Panama City was the winner of both swim-suit rounds of the competition to take the win in the short class.
In the tall class twenty-two-year old Amber Wazlauek of Panama City won both swim-suit rounds to take the class win.

2002 NPC Eastern States
.....
The 2002 NPC Eastern States was held in Bristol, TN on April 13 at the
Paramount Theater under the promotional efforts of Bryan Hayworth and
Tri-City Total Fitness.
.....
A total of 39 athletes competed in the bodybuilding and figure championships.
..... The Men's Open Division saw
Aaron Faire dominate the lightheavyweight class with a unanimous win
and after moving into the finals was selected by the judges as the
overall champion.
..... The Women's Division saw
Laura Brown take a unanimous decision over second placed Veronica
Lanterman, the 2001 NPC Knox Classic Champion.
..... Laura moved into the finals
to take the overall title after a final comparison and posedown with
the heavyweight class winner Rebecca Roberts, who was unopposed in that
class.
..... The Figure Division had two
classes - - short and tall - - and Beth Borelli won the both rounds of
competition, two-piece and one-piece swimsuit, to take the short class
win and moved into the finals against tall class winner Nina Ditammaso
to take the overall title.

2002 NPC Metrolina
.....
The 2002 NPC Metrolina Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships
were held on April 27 under the promotion of Roger and Casey Morrison
and Morrison Productions.
..... The 2001 Metrolina set a
record with 64 competitors and this year's event before a capacity
audience at the Jay M. Robinson auditorium set another record with a
total of 80 competitors.
..... Malcolm Marshall of
Winston-Salem, NC dominated the heavyweight class and moved into the
finals and was the choice of the judges for the overall title.
..... Thirty-six-year-old Donna
White of Southern Pines, NC was making her contest debut by taking the
middleweight class and after the final comparisons and posedown was
declared the overall winner.
..... The Fitness Division was
divided into two height classes and Kristy Stone, 27, of Charlotte, who
was competing for the first time, took the tall class and moved into
the finals and was chosen as the overall winner.
..... The Figure Division was
divided into two height classes and Stacea Leone faced 8 other
competitors in the tall class to emerge as the winner of the class and
went into the finals to take the overall.

2002 NPC Body Max Classic
.....
The 2nd Annual NPC Body Max Classic began the contest season in the
Florida Central District on April 13 at the Forest High School
Auditorium in Ocala under the promotion of Scott Kalb.
.....
The 2001 Body Max Classic drew a total of 19 athletes and this yearâ??s event drew a total of 50 athletes.
..... Twenty-seven-year-old Cham
Pierre of Ocala dominated the lightheavyweight class with a unanimous
decision and moved into the finals to take the overall title.
..... Forty-two-year-old Lynn
Foster of Ocala was making her contest debut by taking the lightweight
class by a unanimous decision and after the final comparisons and
posedown was the choice of the judges for the overall win.
..... The Figure Division had 10
entrants and thirty-nine-year-old Jill Flynn of Lakeland took round one
(two-piece swimsuit) with 11 points to win the round and round two
(one-piece swimsuit) was tied with Laurie Wiggins, 28, of New Port
Richey, with 12 points each. Jill had a total of 26 points to take the
overall win.
