Were you athletic as a child?--Yes (track and field)--relays, long jump and hurdles
Family support for athletics as a child an d today?  As a child I was the youngest in my family and my parents were divorced.  My mother was interested in my track but really did not have time to come and watch me.  I think it made me want to perform better so that I could go home and tell her that about how I did after the meets.  Today my family supports me very much and they are excited to see me succeed. 
When did you begin competing?  1985 was my first competition.  I was in Medical school and worked at a gym in Des Moines, Iowa.
What is your competitive record?  My greatest achievement thus far was placing first in the lightweight division at the USA 2009.
What are your competitive goals?  To attain PRO status!
What motivates you to compete?  I am a very goal oriented person.  I need to always have a goal that I am working for.  It helps me stay focused and continue to improve...even as I get older. I am in much better shape now than I was when I was 20 years younger!  Bodybuilding has been the key for me to improve every year.
Most memorable experience in the sport to date?  Winning the overall women's bodybuilding at the Muscle Beach competition in Venice, California in 1997.
Special recognition: To my Husband Scott Stein who has been my biggest fan and to my two teenage daughters Alex and Daryl Stein who help me with my routines and know all the bodybuilding poses. Alex and Daryl also compete in teen fitness and Scott competes as a middle weight.
