-Were you athletic as a child? Did not play any sports, yet loved the outdoors, playing, go-carting, swimming, hiking and going mudding with my dad. (typical tom boy until age 12, then all girly from there LOL)
-Have you gotten family support for your athletic endeavors as a child and today? As I started my journey in Figure competing, my dad and sister have supported me. My dad being a all star high school athlete, loved the idea of his baby girl becoming healthy and fit. My mom has been my biggest opponent, not understanding the professionalism of the sport, she has not supported or agreed to my decision to continue competing.
How has that support or lack thereof impacted you? The lack of support from my mother initially was very stressful and hard on me, being that I have a very close relationship with her. She has always been my role model and inspiration in life in general. I believe it has made me look deeper within myself for strength and confidence and believe this is all up to me.
-When did you begin competing? I started training for my first show in January 09.
-What is your competitive record? Panhandle Showdown 2009 over 30-2nd Novice C- 3rd
Ft. Lauderdale Cup 10/09- Open Class C- 3rd
Palm Beach Gold Cup 11/09- OPen Class D- 2nd
-What are your competitive goals? My competitive goals are to win my class and overalls at my hometown Pensacola show in April 2010. From there I would like to compete in Pittsburgh, Atlanta and the nationals in Houston and Atlanta later in the season. My goal is to obtain my pro card during the 2010 season.
-What motivates you to compete? The results I see in my body, the change in body, spirit and mind that being fit has helped better myself in all areas. I feel a deep commitment to my 2nd grade students to be a role model in life. From them watching my attitude, self-discipline, healthy eating and exercise I believe I have helped mold them into happy and healthy kids. To impact the future is true motivation!
-Most memorable experience in the sport to date? Stepping on that stage for the very first time, the nerves, the legs shaking and the true self pride I felt from achieving that first step into my journey.
-Special recognition or thanks to anyone? My friend and work out motivator Billy Lewis, he has been there from step 1 and believed in me before I or anyone else could see the diamond in the rough.
-Available for modeling? YES!
