Hi Everyone. I'm back again and this month I would like to tell you all about a brand new competition color that is out on the market by a company called Liquid Sun Rayz. To be perfectly honest with you, I have always been a 'DreamTan baby'. Most of the people that I knew that competited over the last 15 years had used it and I always thought it looked great. And I know alot of the Judges in Florida and Alabama prefer that the athletes not use Dream Tan, but I have always liked that 'golden statue' look and if it was applied correctly,(which of course I was an expert at doing :), then I felt it looked great. Three years ago, before I started spray tanning at the Florida competitions, I started spraying my boyfriend and his friends with JanTana and ProTan. Before I knew it, I bought myself a gallon of JanTana and a gallon of ProTan and I was off to the shows with my tents. I was really unaware that there were other competition colors out there. Since then I have learned allot. Besides the whole 'trial and error' thing, I Iearned a whole bunch from the owner of Liquid Sun Rayz, Marilyn Spatola. This is my story and I would like to share it with you.
Back in the beginning of July I was minding my own business :) when I received this e-mail.......

Subject: Competition Color
Hi There, I also spray and specialize in Competition tanning, in the Cincinnati area. I just completed the development of myown competition formula, and would love to offer you a generous sample to try. This is a two coat product, in 95% of all cases, and has exceptional drying time, which were my two goals when developing this. I am looking for some people in the Fla. area to use and try my color. Please feel free to contact me via e mail or phone if you would be interested in trying the product. Sincerely, Marilyn Spatola, owner www.liquidsunrayz.com
My immediate response was ABSOLUTELY!. I would love to incorporate another color into my selection for my clients. I called her and she sent me out two 8 oz bottles of her color, which was a very generous amount. When we received it, I had one of my girls spray it on me and when I looked into the mirror, my first thought was 'Holy cow, this lady is onto something!' I had never seen a color so dark , so matte and so georgeous at the same time. I immediately ordered a gallon and started using it at Debbie Kruck's show in August and received a great response from not only the competitors that I used it on, but the pro's out front at their tables were questioning me about it. Lee Apperson (Masters Olympia competitor) and his significant other, Jennifer wanted to know "what color was I using" because the figure competitor that I had sprayed it on looked much better than the figure competitor that they had on stage. Then a FAME Pro working the MetRex Booth by the name of Washington Candido wanted me to take him backstage and physically show him the competitors that I sprayed it on so he could see for himself. I told all of them my story about 'this lady that e-mailed me' and since then, both Lee and Washington have ordered her product. Lee used the color in at the Atlantic City Pro show and sent an awsome e-mail back (with pics) stating how great he looked and how awesome the color was. Washington will be using it at the FAME North American Championships down in Miami Nov 1st, which the Hot Spot along with Liquid Sun Rayz are the Tanning sponsors for that show. I also sprayed Debbie Kruck with it so she would look great while passing out trophies. She was genuinely pleased as well.
Since then, I am on my 4th gallon and here are some of the things that I personally noticed from using the color for the past 3 months.
1. It goes on really DARK. (Darker than anything I've seen)
2. There is no fragrance, so there is less likeness of a reaction and you don't have to smell your color for 2 days..
3. It seems to stick to you like glue.
4. There is minimal transfer and rub off.
5. Most of the competitors come to me on Saturday morning (after sleeping) without needing anything else done to their color.
6. The color is still dark on your skin once you take a shower and darker than the other colors leave you (Great for next day photo opportunities).
I really believe in her color that she has worked so long and so hard for that I do not mind sharing it with all of you out there and really urge everyone to just try it. |
Since I have been using this color I have had such a good response, that I am comfortable with getting the word out there to everyone, including Athletes, Judges, and other tanning companies about this awesome color. I am really pleased with this color, pleased with the results that I am getting and I am really pleased with the way my clients look going out on stage. I have my repeat clients requesting it and I have also noticed that it works well with those athletes that have a problem with the pH balance in their skin. I had a young man at the Hurricane/Typhoon Bay that came to me after he had turned green (head to toe) after applying his own color. If he had only been more muscular he would have looked like the incredible hulk! I sprayed the Liquid Sun Rayz color over his greenness and he looked great. Liquid Sun Rayz covered the green completely. He went out on stage a more confident athlete and looked 10X better in his pictures. I also just had my "green" client from the Southern States show come to me on Saturday at the All Forces Championships in Tampa and she showed me she was still turning green. You might remember her from last months’ column about the figure competitor that was wearing the red sweat suit. Well, seems that the red sweat suit just exaggerated her problem. She had applied ProTan a month ago for a photo shoot and turned green and she was wearing JanTana at this show and she looked like a greenish/goldish statue on stage. I had her go back to the hotel room and take a shower and meet me at the venue at 4:30 to put the new Liquid Sun Rayz on her. Don't you know that 5 hours later at the end of the night when she was posing for the overall photos, she still looked perfect. Not even a hint of green. She was so impressed she bought 2 bottles on the spot. So, If you are having a pH problem, I would recommend trying the 'new color'.
I also have allot of the competitors who will request it on Saturday morning because they are not dark enough when using other color. I ask them if they would like more of the same color that they have on or would they like to be DARKER? And their response is always the same, DARKER! So if any of you are having a problem with the other colors (not sticking, running, not dark enough, etc) and would like to try the 'New Color' just ask me at the next show.
The owner of Liquid Sun Rayz , Marilyn Spatola has been the greatest help over the last couple of months. Any questions I have, she has the answers. Anything I need to order, she knows a less expensive supplier. She is a great source of information and a real pleasure to work with. I really believe in her color that she has worked so long and so hard for that I do not mind sharing it with all of you out there and really urge everyone to just try it. Like your mother always said, "you don't know unless you try!"
See you at the shows....
