A TOP contender for the Mrs Universe bodybuilding title Lisa Saygun says Fiji must never lose its culture and traditions which makes the country unique. Saygum of Melbourne took first place in the 2nd class World Fitness Federation and National Amateur Bodybuilding Association Championships in Australia last year . "I love this country and the people are so warm and friendly," Saygun said. "Fijians are very lucky people and should hold tight to their traditions and culture which is a real possession. Fiji is really a beautiful and peaceful place." Saygun is excited about competing in an entirely different Federation, especially since she will have to travel to gyms that are hooked up to prepare athletes like her. "I have never competed for the Olympia Title and I hope I do well," said Saygun. The Miss Universe title is held by Maria Stukova of Russia. Saygun has spent the last 10 years actively involved in fitness and well being. Lisa's experience has ranged from personal training, to instructing fitness classes, managing fitness centres, working and living interstate as a sports marketing and promotions manger for major NRL and AFL clubs. Fiji is Saygun first leg of her eight-week world tour. She is traveling with two of her friends, Mary Mikhael and Melissa Bates. These three are not your usual tourists, their aim on a world tour is to help people. They spent more than a week at the Outrigger Resort and were documenting village life in Vatukarasa in Sigatoka. Saygun is passionate about healthy living and wants to share her experiences with the world. "Fitness and nutritional goodness is vital for everyone," she said. They will move on to Los Angeles and then to Cairo, Egypt, India to share their nutritional knowledge and learn more. |
